Holywood Music Festival
Holywood’s Music Festival, now an annual event, started in 1947 and, after a short period when it did not happen, it was revitalised in the 1990s and has been a regular feature of the town’s calendar ever since. Commonly attracting around 600 entries across a large number of classes and bringing some 3,000 people into the town to watch and listen to the performers, the Festival is now established as one of the most successful in the province and as a very significant contributor not only to Holywood’s distinctive cultural identity but also to its wider community.
The responsibility for organising the Festival is assumed by a hard-working and enthusiastic committee, currently chaired by John Young. The committee meets monthly and is always interested in having new members. Further details are available on the Festival website.
This year's Festival begins on Thursday, 12 November with the Irish traditional music and music theatre classes and ends on Saturday, 21 November with the Gala Concert in the Queen's Hall.
