Holywood Men's Shed
A Men's Shed is a dedicated, friendly and welcoming meeting place where men come together and undertake a variety of mutually agreed activities. It is a place where men can share their skills and knowledge with others, learn new skills or redevelop old skills. The “Shedders” have the opportunity to contribute to their communities and enhance their health and wellbeing by participating in Men’s Sheds.
Good health is based on many factors including feeling good about yourself, being productive and valuable to your community, connecting to friends and maintaining an active body and an active mind. Becoming a member of a Community Men’s Shed gives a man that safe and busy environment where he can find many of these things in an atmosphere of friendship. And, importantly, there is no pressure. Men can just come and have a chat and a cuppa if that is all they’re looking for. Members of Men’s Sheds can come from all walks of life – the bond that unites them is that they are men with time on their hands and they would like something meaningful to do with that time
As well as our regular Friday meeting, we also meet up at our base in the Stable Yard in Redburn Country Park. People are there most Saturdays and on Sunday afternoons, although we are often at the Yard working on projects at other times during the week. Just call up and introduce yourself and you will be offered a cup of tea and before you know it you will be involved in a project of your choice. We have several workshops with a focus on woodwork, arts, crafts, photography, etc. But if you have an idea for a project just come along and start
Holywood Men’s Shed meets at 11 am each Friday morning in Redburn Community Centre. This is our main meeting of the week when we discuss business and plan for the week ahead. Tea, coffee and refreshments are served. The meeting usually ends around 12-30 pm.
